| Dr. Doubrava completed his undergraduate and medical training at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas
and Reno. His internship was completed at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and his
ophthalmology training was at the Louisiana State University Eye Center. During his four year residency, Dr. Doubrava
studied medical and surgical eye care at the New Orleans Veteran's Hospital, the New Orleans Children's Hospital, Lions'
Eye Clinic, and the renowned Charity Hospital. At the LSU Eye Center, Dr. Doubrava was the first resident to treat a
patient with laser vision correction in 1996. Dr. Doubrava is one of a few Las Vegas ophthalmologists who has completed
a one year fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery. His fellowship was under the tutelage of Dr. Marguerite B. McDonald
at the New Orleans Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital. Dr. McDonald performed the world's first laser vision correction
on a patient in 1988 while on faculty at the LSU Eye Center. Dr. Doubrava received advanced training in corneal
transplantation, cataract implant surgery, and LASIK. He and Dr. McDonald co-authored a chapter for one of the first
textbooks regarding LASIK in 1997. |
